Right..this is a strange one but as Bollywood have refused to come to Ireland, the Irish are doing it for themselves. David O’ Sullivan is directing Ireland’s first Bollywood musical about Baba, a convenience store clerk who falls in love with an Irish estate agent. This short film was one of of the lucky few to be granted funding under the IFB’s Short Shorts Scheme. As it is still being shot on a “minuscule” budget, members of the public are being invited to join in on a grand finale dance number in the streets of Dublin this coming Sunday the 19th of April.
If you’re interested, you can learn the dance steps by rehearsing with the aid of the vide0 below..and then contacting dublinbollywood@gmail.com to submit your details. And as time is running out, you have to do so quickly!
Just remember that there’s no money to be made, but lots of fun is promised..
David O Sullivan previously made ‘Nun More Deadly’, a film noir set in Waterford, and a very enjoyable short, which rightfully won the Audience Award at the Cork Film Festival back in 2006…watch it here (well part one at least..):
It was a fantastic day sun was shining and everything. The cast and crew were fab! Normally you hear of some horror stories of being an extra but everyone was well looked after the day of the shoot. It was great fun and everyone had a wonderful time.
Would defo recommend working for em again.
The film will be shown at the Galway film fest!!

Can some-one tell me when and where it will be shown
Hi Gwen, well as Kat mentioned above, there’s talk of it being screened at the Galway Film Fleadh this coming July, although the festival programme has not been posted on the net yet.
Just realised that the proper title for the short is ‘Street Masala’. Didn’t know that before!
